"Out of the Dark" is the first episode in the Darkstalkers TV series. The series is set in a different continuity than the video games and is centered around a young sorcerer, Harry Grimoire. Although the series consisted of characters from Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors and Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge, only the cast from the original Darkstalkers were introduced or seen briefly in this episode with the exception of the robot, Huitzil.

Pyron returns to Earth and summons the old races, also known as the Darkstalkers to help him enslave the humans. A Darkstalker by the name of Felicia searches for the legendary sorcerer, Elijah Grimoire in hopes that he can help her. Instead of finding the ancient sorcerer, she finds his great great great grandson, Harry.

  • Scenes from this episode, specifically Demitri and Bishamon's summoning scenes would later be reused in episode ten, "Samurai's Honor".
  • When Lord Raptor is awakened and summoned to Pyron's ship, the airplane from where he came reads, "Lord Raptor British Empire Tour 1970." The mid-1970's is when most consider punk to have been developed.
  • Professor Gerdenheim is named Baron von Gerdenheim.

  • Huitzil, who is from the original series, does not emerge in this episode but makes his one time appearance in episode 10, "Alien's Keep Out."
  • Although they do not appear in this episode, Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge characters' Anita (known as Amanda), Donovan Baine, Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling do appear later in the series.
  • In future episodes, the Bigfoot tribe members lose the brown patches of hair on their chest. This may have been done as a female member was added.
